What's New For the 2021 Lexus IS?

After eight model years into its third production cycle, the Lexus IS finally gets a significant refresh as it enters the 2021 model year. The suspension is stiffer for a more exciting driving feel, the Remote Touch controller is now standard, Amazon Alexa connectivity is added for voice-command ability, and the IS includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration. Also, the F Sport, which is the higher-performance and more sports-oriented variant of the nameplate, is now only available on the upper-level IS 350 trim.

Which Features are Available for 2021?

The 2021 Lexus IS is split into IS 300 and IS 350 models. Up to five people can be accommodated on the two rows of seats. The front consists of a 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat and an 8-way power-adjustable front passenger seat. A leather-wrapped steering wheel and synthetic leather seat trim are standard. For front-seat heating and cooling, a perforated leather-wrapped steering wheel, and more aggressive styling on the front seating, go with the F Sport.

In addition to Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Amazon Alexa, the Lexus IS has a 10-speaker stereo system and a 7-inch screen to form its infotainment system. Rounding up its components are Bluetooth, Siri Eyes Free, AM/FM radio, HD Radio, two USB ports, and SiriusXM Radio three months. The previously mentioned Remote Touch controller is what you use to execute infotainment functions. Also present is the Lexus Enform telematics platform. Lexus adds proximity keyless entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, a moonroof, and a garage-door opener for comfort and convenience. For unique racing-style instrumentation on the dashboard, choose the F Sport.

Featuring Great Performance

A 241-horsepower 3.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine powers the IS 300. The IS 350 gets a 311-horsepower 3.5-liter V6, pushing the IS 300 from 0-60 MPH in 5.6 seconds.

2021 IS Safety Features

Driver assistance on the Lexus IS is provided by the Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 suite, which combines adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go technology, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and vehicle detection, and lane tracing assistance, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and traffic sign recognition.

For restraint and cushioning in the event of a crash, the IS has a dual frontal, dual side-impact, and dual side curtain airbags. Also present are a rearview camera, LED daytime running lights, electronic vehicle stability control and traction control, and an anti-lock braking system with brake assist and electronic brake-force distribution.
