Since its inception, the Lexus LS has stood out in the luxury segment, setting new benchmarks for comfort and refinement with each redesign. Now in its fifth generation, the 2018 Lexus LS has once again astonished the industry with its sleek design, incredible power and extraordinary technological advancements.
“The LS is the flagship of the Lexus brand,” said chief designer, Koichi Suga. “More than any other model, it embodies the history and image of Lexus and serves as a symbol for everything the brand stands for.”
The luxury sedan debuts with a new coupe-like silhouette, flush-surface windows, wing-shaped LED signature lighting, a chrome-lined grille, an outer-slide moon roof and more. The 2018 LS is designed with the automaker’s new global architecture for luxury vehicles called GA-L, which lowers the car’s center of gravity, lengthens its wheelbase and gives it a wider stance. This assists the luxury sedan in achieving the perfect balance of comfort, handling and performance. Additionally, the LS features the latest iterations of Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management and Lexus Dynamic Handling, and a redesigned multilink suspension with double ball joints on the control arms, which make for a silky smooth, nearly flawless ride quality.
Critics cannot get enough of the luxury sedan’s exclusive powertrain, which replaces the outgoing V8. The LS’s 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 can only be found on the flagship sedan, and offers “V8-level power without sacrificing fuel economy—all while minimizing noise and vibration” according to the automaker. The system’s output of 415 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque is managed by a 10-speed automatic transmission, which delivers power to the rear wheels. With this first-ever configuration, the 2018 LS can achieve a 0 to 60 mph time of 4.5 seconds.

The cherry on the sundae is the luxury sedan’s redesigned cabin full of new amenities and technological assets. The design is emblematic of the automaker’s Japanese heritage, featuring organic shapes and a seamless blend of wood, metal and leather that illuminates nicely under the ambient lighting. To say the seating has been upgraded is an understatement—available all-new 28-way power front seats offer the comfort you would expect from your home furniture. The seats are equipped with heating, cooling and massage features, as well. In the rear, the same features, plus a right side reclining seat with an ottoman, are also available.
On the technology front, the LS is suited with a 12.3-inch navigation display that operates via Lexus Remote Touch, and can be accompanied by an available 24-inch color head-up display. Also optional is a Mark Levinson 3D surround audio system with in-ceiling speakers.
The 2018 Lexus LS will arrive at Superstition Springs Lexus later this year. Be sure to check back for the latest Lexus news!
