At Superstition Springs Lexus, we’re committed to building a better, stronger community! To achieve this goal, we routinely partner with local organizations and initiatives that share in this dedication.
We’re proud to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona, a non-profit organization that pairs at-risk youth with adult mentors that will help them realize their potential and develop successful futures. To learn more about our local chapter of BBBS, as well as how you can get involved, continue reading below.
What Is Big Brothers Big Sisters?
Big Brothers Big Sisters is the largest donor- and volunteer-supported mentoring network in the U.S., with over 350 chapters located throughout the country. The organization was founded on a simple mission: help children going through adversity stay out of trouble and achieve success in life.
In order to accomplish this mission, BBBS matches each child in the program to an adult mentor who meets that child’s specific needs and will be able to serve as a positive and caring role model. Through this careful matchmaking process, mentors are able to have a long-lasting effect on children’s lives. In fact, the data shows that children in the program are more confident and perform better in school, and are less likely to turn to alcohol, drugs, violence or other dangerous behaviors.
How Can I Support Big Brothers Big Sisters?
BBBS relies on donations in order to operate, so that’s a great way to get involved! Whether you prefer to make a cash donation or pass on your old clothing or household items, there are a variety of ways to assist the organization.
Interested in becoming a mentor? There are always opportunities open both as a community-based mentor and a site-based mentor. Several requirements must be met in order to apply, which can be viewed on the Big Brothers Big Sisters website.
