On the third Saturday of every month, the Mesa Arts Center hosts a free night out for the community called “spark! After Dark,” a popular local event that brings East Valley residents together over food, live music, art displays and more. This month’s event is taking place Saturday, May 20 from 8-11 p.m., so get ready for this fun, family-friendly festival in Mesa!
The theme for May is Cypher Ritmo, which is “a night of cross-cultural rhythm and dance” according to the Mesa Arts Center’s website. Attendees can expect to jam out to a variety of hip hop and Afro-Brazilian rhythms, as well as live DJs. Those who are musically-inclined can also opt to participate in free drum and dance workshops, or show off their freestyling skills at the open cypher mic.
Come hungry, because local Brazilian steakhouse Rodizio Grill will be serving up mouth-watering bites. From frango com bacon (bacon-wrapped chicken) and linguica n’arela (sausage yucca meal) to glazed pineapple, there are plenty of delicious dishes to choose from.
Can’t make this month’s event? There are other opportunities to experience the fun of “spark! After Dark.” The next one is scheduled for June 17, so be sure to mark your calendars now! Each month features a different theme, so check back with the Mesa Arts Center’s website for additional information.
