Drizzle it, dip into it, or marinate with it— Sriracha can be added to pretty much any dish for a big taste boost. However, its scope no longer ends with mealtime. By joining forces with Lexus to create a model for the Los Angeles Auto Show, Sriracha proves it can add an extra kick to automobiles too, while incorporating its philosophy of “Sriracha in everything.”
“The new Lexus IS is so hot, we decided to make it Sriracha hot, with all the custom details every Sriracha fan will appreciate,” said Brian Smith, Lexus vice president of marketing.
The most noticeable aspect of the model is its sauce-colored hue, which was formulated to resemble the Sriracha bottle itself. However, achieving the near identical color was not easy, and Lexus engineers experimented by even adding the sauce itself to the paint to make it happen. The exterior paint color is complimented by special badging and green accents on the brake calipers, dual exhaust outlets, grille outline and side view mirrors.
The theme continues inside the cabin, which is outfitted with premium leather upholstery embellished with the iconic rooster logo, colorful inserts and green stitching. Green mood lighting, a special Sriracha hot setting for the heating system and a Sriracha drive mode are all included. The most impressive is the steering wheel, which was developed from a resin cast injected with Sriracha-like liquid to get the look just right.
