For the sixth year in a row, Lexus came out on top of J.D. Power’s annual Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS). In addition to this incredible accomplishment, several Lexus vehicles were also awarded as the most dependable in their segment, including the best-selling Lexus RX.
2017 Vehicle Dependability Study
Each year, the VDS checks in with original vehicle owners who have cars, trucks or SUVs that are now three-years-old. Each model is assessed and rated based on the problems and issues reported within the past 12 months by owners. Problems range from engine and transmission troubles to heating and cooling repairs to even issues with the vehicle’s in-cabin technology.
This year’s study evaluated all 2014 models of every make and type, ranking vehicles and brands based on the amount of reported problems. Once again, Lexus came in as the most dependable brand, beating both economical and luxury brands. This achievement reflects the automaker’s commitment to providing high-quality luxury vehicles that are built to last.
Additionally, three Lexus vehicles were the highest-ranking in their respective segments: Lexus ES (Compact Premium Car), Lexus GS (Midsize Premium Car) and Lexus RX (Midsize Premium SUV).
2017 Customer Service Index Study
Lexus also made strides in another J.D. Power study: the Customer Service Index. Ranking highest among luxury brands for the 17th time, Lexus continues to offer a winning combination of world-class luxury vehicles and amazing customer service.
“At Lexus, we aim to create amazing experiences for our customers by anticipating their needs both at the time of purchase and years down the road,” said Jeff Bracken, Lexus group vice president and general manager. “Customer service is at the heart of our brand, and we’re proud of the continuous efforts by our dealers to exceed our buyers’ expectations.”
